The 17th and 18th November Carlos Tarrasón spent two days at World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO in Geneva sharing experiences on how GIs are powerful instruments for economic development and how to improve it. There were delegations from Pakistan, Argel, Uganda and Brazil.

Carlos Tarrasón, as director of Cluster Consulting, was invited to present the methodology and development for brand and commercialization strategy deployed for Aroeira Honey from North of Minas GI in Brazil.  This event was the final part of a three year project from WIPO to Empower Small businesses thorugh IP "Developing strategies for supporting geographical indications or collective marks in the post-registration period". Carlos Tarrasón worked during the three years of the project in Brazil, the first two years as individual consultant and the third year as part of Cluster Consulting.

Special thanks to Alexandra Grazioli and Ozden Ilhan for this great opportunity for sharing and learning. Also I am specially grateful to Hulda Giesbrecht, Priscilla Lins, Danielle Fantini and Walmath Ferreira who from SEBRAE supported the project in Brazil. We also had the support of Bruno Rohde and Jose Renato from INPI and Henry Pfeiffer from the Ministry of Internatinal Relations in Brazil, among many other people who did their best.
